Partners Card, presented by Bank of Texas and benefiting The Family Place, introduced a new level of giving and shopping Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at the Silver Card Launch Party hosted by Bungalow 5. The Family Place announced the special, limited-edition Silver Card to the crowd of more than 150, including past Partners Card chairs, participating retailers, sponsors, card sellers and more. Light bites were provided by Proper Catering & Events and cocktails and wine were donated by Impeccable Rosé Brut, Impatience Rosé and Times Ten Cellars. Additional event sponsors included: BEYOND and Top Tier Event Rentals & Staffing.
Partners Card is the signature fundraiser for The Family Place, Texas’ largest and longest-serving family violence agency, and over the past 24 years has become one of the most popular shopping events in the Dallas Metroplex. Cardholders who purchase a $70 card receive a 20 percent discount at a variety of their favorite stores and restaurants while supporting The Family Place. In 2016, more than 750 retailers and restaurants participated in the program, raising more than $1 million to support The Family Place’s mission to provide life-saving shelter and support to victims experiencing family violence.
Partners Card 2017 Co-chair Jennifer Burns welcomed guests and expressed how “grateful we are to be amongst such a strong community network that supports The Family Place Partners Card program and one that supports putting an end to family violence. We are so excited to be celebrating 25 years, the silver anniversary of Partners Card, a fundraiser that is both fun and vital to our community.” Jennifer also recognized Honorary Chairs Joanne and Charles Teichman, as well as all Partners Card sponsors for their continued support.
Brynn Bagot Allday, Partners Card 2017 Co-chair, thanked media sponsors for their ongoing support in helping to spread the word about Partners Card and the mission of The Family Place. Brynn introduced Mandy Austin, senior vice president and commercial banking manager for Bank of Texas, which has served as presenting sponsor of Partners Card for the past eight years.
Burns also introduced the Silver Card, which commemorates the 25th anniversary of Partners Card, as well as the new Partners Card app. The Silver Card will allow cardholders 20 percent off at participating retail locations, and they will also receive a 25 percent discount at more than 85 select Silver Card locations. The Silver Card also grants cardholders two extra days of shopping at participating Silver Card retailers Wednesday, October 25 and Thursday, October 26, 2017, in addition to the standard 10-days of Partners Card shopping from Friday, October 27 through Sunday, November 5, 2017. Guests were invited to pre-purchase one of the 100 Silver Cards that will be sold following remarks.
With the Partners Card App you can buy or gift a card, view participating stores, see upcoming Partners Card events and more. The Partners Card App is free and available for both iPhone and Android. This year’s 10-day Partners Card shopping event will be Friday, October 27 through Sunday, November 5, 2017. Cardholders are invited to shop with a purpose and help The Family Place reach its goal of raising $1.2 million.
Kory Helfman from Ken’s Man’s Shop, a 25-year Partners Card retailer, expressed his passion for the Partners Card program and his excitement about the Silver Card. Kory stated that he has seen “potential, growth and an outpouring of support” throughout the 25 years of Partners Card and concluded by asking guests to “please continue to give your heart, time and any financial contribution to this amazing program.”
Host Tyler Sweatman, general manager of Bungalow 5, also expressed how important it is for him, also a longtime retailer, to support The Family Place and our community with the program. Tyler also recognized Suzanne Roberts who isanother 25-year retailer. Following remarks, a drawing was held for one of two $1,000 Bungalow 5 gift cards. Past Partners Card Chair Nancy Gopez won the first gift card, drawn by Paige Flink, CEO of The Family Place. The second drawing was held at the end of the evening by Amy Vanderoef. Past Partners Card Chair Kelly Schadt was the lucky winner of the other $1,000 gift card!
