Over 25% of U.S. Employees Are in Need of Mental Health Services
Fisher Phillips, one of the nation’s leading labor and employment law firms, will conduct a double-header Lunch and Learn series on July 13 and August 24 at Maggiano’s at NorthPark. The two-day workshop will offer guidance to employers about how employment laws impact substance abuse and psychological impairment in the workplace.
Twenty-six out of every 100 U.S. employees are in need of mental health services and one out of every two people will need mental health care in their lifetime, according to The National Institute of Mental Health. Employees can experience a range of mental health disorders, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHA, OCD, eating disorders, PTSD, personality disorders and substance abuse.
“This workshop will provide those who manage employees or make decisions impacting the workforce with guidance on how to approach substance impairment and psychological disorders in the workplace,” said Michael V. Abcarian, managing partner of the Dallas office of Fisher Phillips. “We hope that attendees will leave with practical answers that equip them to tackle these difficult but recurring workplace issues.”
The seminar will be held on Thursday, July 13 and Thursday, August 24 from 11:30 a.m.—1:30 p.m., at Maggiano’s at Northpark, 8687 N. Central Expressway, Dallas, TX 75225, and has been approved by the Human Resources Certification Institute for twohours of HRCI and SHRM credit as well as the State Bar of Texas for two accredited CLE Hours.
The attorneys will answer questions about mental health in the workplace such as:
- Do you understand the ADAA, FMLA and OSHA regulations regarding mental health?
- Are your employee’s mental health issues your business?
- What employee health conditions are considered disabilities?
- Are you providing required workplace accommodations to disabled workers?
- Are you comfortable with the ADAA interactive process?
