Whitley Penn to Launch Firm-Wide Wellness Initiative, FitWhit


Whitley Penn, one of the region’s most distinguished public accounting and consulting firms, is pleased to announce the kick off of FitWhit, a firm-wide health and wellness initiative.

Since opening their doors in 1983, Whitley Penn has taken pride in providing a strong work-life balance with an emphasis on creating a healthy and happy work environment for employees. Amidst being part of an industry known for requiring long hours and strict deadlines, FitWhit is just another way that Whitley Penn stands out among their peers by caring for each and every employee’s well-being.

Toward that objective, I'm excited to see the Whitley Penn wellness program come together in the form of FitWhit, which has been designed by a group of Whitley Penn volunteers. Steered by a committee of 15 employees across all departments and office locations, FitWhit is an initiative for Whitley Penn employees, created by Whitley Penn employees. The objectives of FitWhit are to improve the physical and mental well-being of Whitley Penn employees, promote camaraderie, collaboration, and team building at Whitley Penn, lower employee health care costs, and enhance job satisfaction of Whitley Penn employees.

FitWhit launches within the firm on Monday, October 19, 2015 with a series of celebrations, educational programs and competitions, all centered around improving health and wellness.

To encourage an active lifestyle, Whitley Penn employees can participate in a 1,000 Mile Journey contest, a competition between the firm’s Fort Worth, Dallas, and Houston offices to see which one can be the first to log 1,000 miles. Whitley Penn plans to improve nutritional health by providing employees healthier beverages and snacks based on the Blue Zones Project® guidelines. These are just a few of the programs that employees can get involved in to contribute to a healthier workplace.
