$2.8M Renovation Underway at The Berkshire at Preston Center

The Berkshire at Preston Center, the 185,000 square foot, Class A office building in Preston Center at the corner of Berkshire Lane and the Dallas North Tollway, is undergoing a $2.8 million renovation.

Currently underway at The Berkshire is a $1.3 million elevator touch screen control panel system for each of its eight elevators. The new control panels not only operate the elevators, but they also provide access to news, weather, stock reports and live television. This is the second building in the nation to receive this type of elevator touch screen technology and the first in the Southwest.

A ribbon cutting ceremony and champagne toast celebrated the opening of the first of the eight elevator cabs in 2012. The remaining cabs are expected to be completed in late spring of 2013.

A $1.5 million renovation is in process for the main lobby, exterior and garage. Renovation plans can be seen inside the building, with large renderings posted on the temporary walls.

Staffelbach designed the concept, and Scott & Reid General Contractors is performing the improvements, which are scheduled to be completed later this year.

The Berkshire is ENERGY STAR® rated and LEED® certified and is currently 88 percent leased with approximately 49,534 rentable square feet available for lease.

Walker and Duane Henley of Transwestern exclusively lease the building on behalf of its owner, BPC Corp.
