According to a May 2015 Patent Litigation Study released by PriceWaterhouse Coopers, in 2014 the number of filed patent lawsuits decreased for the first time in 5 years. The study attributed this reduction to a recent Supreme Court case, Alice Corp. v. CLS Bank, which narrowed both the standard for patentability and the ability of IP holders to enforce software patents.
