DALLAS -- Johnson Investment Counsel Inc. has reported a 5.27 percent stake worth $14.72 million in the Cushing MLP Total Return Fund (NYSE: SRV ), according to an SEC filing.
The Cincinnati-based money manager said it owns 1.36 million shares in the Dallas nondiversified, closed-end fund. The stake's value is based on the stock's closing price of $10.82 on Monday.
The fund, managed by Cushing MLP Asset Management LP, aims for a high after-tax return through capital appreciation and current income. Typically, it holds at least 80 percent of its net assets, plus any borrowings, in master limited partnership investments.
The Cushing fund has been led and managed since 2007 by Chairman and CEO Jerry Swank. He is managing partner of the fund's adviser, Swank Capital.
